HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt Area Vintage Club are gearing up for another annual Vintage Days festival at the end of the month.

This year's activities will include the iconic horse and tractor pulls, a tea open house and beer gardens on Saturday, Aug. 17, as well as a pancake breakfast, mini steam engine rides, various demonstrations and other activities on Sunday, Aug. 18.

New this year is rock painting for kids, which organizer Susan Dunne said will be used in the creation of the Vintage Club’s new artificial creek.

“We’ll place the rocks on the creek’s edge, encouraging the kids to come back next year to see them,” Dunne said. It’s a tradition she would like to keep going, she said, so that Humboldt’s youth know their connection to the Vintage Club.

“Because it’s the youth of our province that have to keep this place going, right?”

Money raised from the horse and tractor pulls, concession booths, entry fees and raffle tickets will be going back to the Vintage Club.

“We’re always raising money for something,” Dunne said – be it the recent reskinning of the Vintage Club’s barn store or eventual upkeep of yard shops and their farm house.

There’s also the need and upkeep for equipment, Dunne said.
