HUMBOLDT — To help keep the community connected, the Humboldt and District Kinettes have started a local Easter decorating contest.
“We’re just all trying to get through this unknowing right now,” said Kelly Soderholm, president of the Humboldt Kinettes. “People are reaching out to one another through decorating their windows because the only thing we can do is drive around and walk around and things. So, it brings just people together in a different concept.”
To qualify for the Kinettes contest, the community member must live in the Humboldt area, decorate their house for Easter, and post a picture of it on a specific Kinettes Facebook thread which can be found on the Humboldt and District Kinettes Kinettes’ Facebook page.
The winner will have an Easter basket of “goodies” left on their doorstep on Easter Sunday.
Soderholm said she hopes this also serves as a fun activity households can do together.
“We can’t celebrate Easter with one another, we can’t go to each other’s houses but we can still walk and drive around. As we’re walking around we can look and say, ‘oh isn’t that cute, right?’ You see a lot of people out with their kids and stuff.”
The winner will be selected based on a random draw that will be done on April 10. If the recipient’s address isn’t made clear in the photo, then they will be contacted through a comment on the photo.
Soderholm said she will be putting the basket together personally.
“It will just be a basket of goodies and it will be on someone’s doorstep Easter Sunday.”
