HUMBOLDT — The City of Humboldt will be celebrating Canada Day with a fireworks show and activities focusing on families getting out enjoying recreation facilities and amenities throughout the community.
“It’s very similar to what we had last year,” said Mike Ulriksen, Humboldt’s director of community and leisure services. “We’re just encouraging people to get out and use our beautiful facilities we got throughout our community, and our parks, and trails and thinks like that.”
Other activities taking place throughout the day include free nine holes at the Humboldt Golf Club, compliments of the city; Kemway Lanes is offering discounted bowling for two dollars; and free mini-golf is being held at the Humboldt Visitor Information Centre.
The city is also using the opportunity to advertise various parks and leisure spaces such as the storybook trail at Water Ridge Park, the Aquatic Centre, the skate park, and walking trails throughout the city.
Fireworks are set to begin at 10 p.m. at Centennial Park.
Suggested parking spots by the city include the Humboldt Commons, Uniplex parking lot, Quill Centre, Geschaft Centre and the Co-op grocery store.
“Those are all places people will get a good view of the event.”
Residents who use these spaces are asked to remain in their vehicles and not to litter.
The fireworks show typically lasts between 15 to 20 minutes.
