Hot weather speeds up harvest

A little rain two days ago brought us some relief from the hot weather. The hot weather is forecast to continue for the week, so the harvesting operation will speed up.

Congratulations to Kevin and Yvonne Pike who celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Saturday. Relatives and friends gathered to enjoy supper and an evening of visiting. Our best wishes for many more years of happiness together.

Wayne and Jane Pike of Meadow Lake also celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Aug. 14. They had their celebration at their cottage at Lac de Isles. Those travelling from our area to celebrate with them were Florence Pike, Bill Pike, Lynn and Murray Blyth, Rick and Karen Johnston and Rene and Terry Pike. Florence spent a few days there enjoying the lake. We congratulate Wayne and Jane and wish them all the best in the years to come.

One day of summer I spend at Loon Lake as a guest of Dennis and Jeanette Pike and Debbie and Kirk Munroe. This year the date was Aug. 27 and I accompanied by daughter Ellen Oddan there. It was an extremely foggy morning and we didn't get away as early as we planned. We couldn't have wished for a more beautiful day on the lake where we spent most of the day. Fishing was good, too.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Marian White of Cut Knife who is presently a patient in Unity Hospital. Marian grew up in this district and keeps in touch with many friends and relatives.
