HUMBOLDT — For those that need deliveries because they are self-isolating or quarantined, the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation is ready to help out.
“They can give us a call as to what they need, we'll make the arrangements and we'll deliver it to their doorstep,” said Lorrie Bunko, the foundation’s executive director.
Those deliveries are whatever the person needs and could include toiletries, medications, food.
“We know that there's people that have families that they can rely on, but we also know that there's people that don't have much family around and are limited with who they can reach out to, so we just want to be able to offer that service to those people,” Bunko said.
The executive director said they are taking steps to keep the delivery volunteers safe. Deliveries will be deposited on the doorstep, so they shouldn’t be person-to-person interaction. The foundation will also ask a series of questions to those they are delivering to so the volunteer can be prepared.
“We are doing this because we are wanting to give back to the community because of the support the district has given us over the years,” Bunko said. “We want to be able to do something at this time.”
