Thanksgiving was one of those nice days and families in the district got together to enjoy a meal together.

Forest Bank ladies along with ladies from the Battlevale District took charge of the hospital auxiliary pie bingo in Maidstone, Oct. 10. They provided the pies and the workers. A large crowd attended, helping out this worthwhile cause.

Bruce Pierce of Smeaton returned home after spending his annual harvest time helping Keith Pike and crew with combining. He was once again the guest of Debbie and Keith Pike. During that time his partner, Diana Rudd, spent five days visiting with them as well. She was also involved in the harvest operations at the domestic end. Bruce is Keith and Debbie's son-in-law's, Jim's, father.

Keith and Eileen Evans returned home Oct. 10 from a motor trip which took them to Salmon Arm, B.C., where they visited their daughter Kathy, her husband Chris Jacobs and their family Kaitlyn and Evan. They also spent some time visiting with John and Calynda Evans and son, Logan, in Calgary. The weather was wonderful for the entire trip and the fall scenery was beautiful.

There have been lots of birds around this fall. The robins are still here enjoying the mayday tree berries. Pheasants have been sighted in the area which is wonderful. I have once again seen bush partridges close by. Some fall birds are around including the slate-gray junco.
