Spirits were high as students and staff from Neilburg Composite School presented their annual Christmas concert Dec. 18.
Vice-Principal, Tyson Volk was the MC. The program began with two songs sung by the Kindergarten class.
Then it was time for the main production - a rendition of the musical Holiday Zoobilee by students in Grades 1 through 6.
The play featured seven catchy songs and followed thezookeeper (Brayden Koch) through his duties at work each day.
There were monkeys (DaelynDucherer, Emily Peters, Wyatt Downie, Kyle Williams, Keyaira Robinson andEugene Rathwell and giraffes (Nick Hein, Keegan Chibri, Jared O'Grady and Carson Peters) in the zoo.
Each animal had a foam mask that had a hole cut out for the child's face to shine through! Adorable elephants were: Kyle Whitney, Annie Bergen, Cassidy Spence, Ramsay Flicek, Cooper Whitney, Kailee Johnston, Sarah Williams, Tristan Ducherer, Johnny Bergen, Brennan Olsen, Stanton Robinson, Luke Jensen, Kale Worman, Taeya Wiens, Colton Walde, Konnor Hiscock and Brayden Koch. Gus Wightman and Shana Flicek were hyenas. The birds were represented by Kaylyn Koch, Susana Martens, McKenna Goodfellow, Shay Brovchenko, Hannah O'Grady, Ann Hewko and Paige Johnston. William Downie and Tidja Hoeppner-Basha were zebras.
Penguin people were Jacob Martens, Reese Walde, Ashton O'Grady, Skyler Brovchenko, Colter Husch, Francie Peters,Devon Whitney and Isobel Ramsay-Mackenzie, Braxton Snell and Evan Sawtell were bears. Madison Goodfellow, Hallie Goodfellow, and Henry Peters were lions. Raegan Husch was the sole leopard while Aliana Worman, Emma Watson, ShawnWhitney, and Ashton Schmidt were tigers.
The evening concluded with a Christmas nativity play was presented by the kindergarten students. They were accompanied by the Neilburg Composite School Senior Band playing Silent Night. Emily Thiessen was Mary and Chloe Peters was Joseph. The angels were Ashlyn Lepine, Autumn Isaac and Tina Martens. The wise men were Cristina Penner, Garner Melchoir and Rowdy Flicek. Sarah Lindsay, Jake Hein and David Downie were the shepherds.
After the formal program, there was a bake sale with funds raised going to the Free the Children campaign.
