Know the law about driving in construction zones. In 2012, Saskatchewan changed its law on speeding in construction zones. Drivers now face stiffer penalties.

Many drivers don't seem to realize the risks involved with speeding in construction zones and wonder why the speed limit is often lower in these areas. Speeding in a construction zone could result in a collision involving yourself and/or other road users. In addition, there can be workers on or near the road operating heavy equipment, working with hand tools on the ground or acting as flag persons. They could also be hidden behind equipment or construction materials. Even if you don't see any workers in the zone, the road itself could have hidden hazards such as reduced traction from fresh oil, loose gravel chips or uneven pavement. Lowering the speed limit in construction zones reduces the risk of collision.

Drivers caught driving above the speed limit in a construction zone face a base fine of $210, which is triple the base fine for speeding, $3 for every km/h over 60 km/h, for speeds up to up to 90 km/hm, $6 for every km/h over 60 km/h for speeds in excess of 90 km/h.

In my next few articles I will be providing information on some of the artists our performers will be performing at Legend in Maymont Oct, 26.

Song bird Doreen Duchnitski plays music with Jon Sloan and sings some of Anne Murray's songs. You'll enjoy her medley of Murray's songs the night of the concert.

Morna Anne Murray (born June 20, 1945) is a multiple award-winning Canadian singer in pop, country and adult contemporary music whose albums have sold over 54 million copies worldwide as of 2012. Murray was the first Canadian female solo singer to reach number one on the U.S. charts, and also the first to earn a Gold record for one of her signature songs, Snowbird (1970).

She is also the first woman and the first Canadian to win Album of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards for her 1984 album A Little Good News. Murray has received four Grammy Awards, 24 Juno Awards (she holds the record for the most Junos awarded to an artist), three American Music Awards, three Country Music Association Awards and three Canadian Country Music Association Awards. She has been inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, the Juno Hall of Fame, and The Songwriters Hall of Fame. She is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame Walkway of Stars in Nashville, and has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles and on Canada's Walk of Fame in Toronto.
