H. Hardcastle School has sent forth another crop of young adults into the world. The festivities began June 25 with an interdenominational church service held at the Full Gospel Assembly in Edam.
This was followed by the awards banquet at the Edam Community Centre. A lovely meal was served by Marion Ottas and crew.
Mistress of ceremony duties were carried out by Jetta Derenoski and Brittany Bec. The girls called upon Pastor Dave Walker to say the blessing of the meal. Following the introduction of the head table, Brent Kobes was called upon to give the toast to the teachers, with Trevor Gateley replying. The toast to the parents was given by Jessica Bec and her parents, Ron and Giselle Bec, replied. Jordan Sitter and Austin White then came forward to give a toast to the girls of the class while Keinyn Nordell and Madison Detillieux gave the toast to the boys.
Following the formalities, Mr. Mike Lee and Mr. Darren Nordell were called upon to present the awards. Grade 12 homeroom teacher, Trevor Gateley was asked to present the honour and merit rolls to those who qualified with the rest of the awards following.
Graduation day saw the students meeting at the Lady Monti Health Care Centre to parade for the residents who are unable to attend the festivities. They then gathered outside in the garden of LMHCC to have their formal group photo taken. The graduation exercises took place in the school gymnasium at 2 p.m. with the grand march following immediately after.
This year 17 young adults embarked on a new chapter of their lives.

One other award presented during the graduations exercises was the Governor General/Lawrence and Madge Severson Award which was presented to a graduate of the previous year. This year that recipient was Kelcey McCarthy.
MC was Jesse Cadrain and the valedictorian was Madison Detillieux.

The undergraduate awards were presented June 16 in the school gymnasium. Winners of the afternoon were: girls' athletic - Kesha Schaefer, boys' athletic - Lindon Goodall, history 30 - Brittany Bec, biology 30 - Brittany Bec.
General proficiency awards of $150 each went to: Grade 9 - Kesha Schaefer, Grade 10 - Zachary Gordon, Grade 11 - Brittany Bec. SCC academic scholarships of $150 each went to Grade 9 - Kesha Schaefer, Grade 10 - Mason Detillieux, Grade 11 - Kennedy Schaefer. The division 3 general proficiency awards were won by Kesha Schaefer for the girls and Lindon Goodall for the boys.
Now for the honour and merit rolls. Honour rolls go to students who achieve 80 per cent and over. Merit rolls go to students who achieve 75 - 79 per cent.
