Happy Christmas Eve! Santa Claus is coming to town – tonight! – and he's already on his way.
Heand his reindeer have departed on their annual around-the-world journey to deliver presents to everyone who earned a spot on the nice list this year.
As Santa and his sleigh take to the skies,the Canadian North American Aerospace Defense Command hasonce again accepted "themission of monitoring and escorting Santa as he completes his magical journey through Canadian airspace."
This year marks the organization's65th consecutive year tracking Santa’s yuletide journey, NORAD confirmed in a news release.
“Utilizing the North Warning System's powerful radar and satellite systems, we are able to see into the North better than ever, allowing us to track Santa more precisely, ensuring he has a safe trip through North American airspace,"said Maj.-Gen.Eric Kenny, commander of the Canadian NORAD region in the release.
Eager Santa-watchers can head to the to see where Santa currently is on his flight path. At the time of publication, St. Nick was en route to Victoria, in the Seychelles, after beinglast seen inMogadishu, Somalia. He's delivered over 2.4 million presents, as of 1:15 p.m. PST.
