Hardy crocuses a sign of spring

One of my activities about this time of year is a visit to the hills south of where Battlevale School stood. The object is generally to see if the crocuses are blooming. I was not disappointed.

One of my activities about this time of year is a visit to the hills south of where Battlevale School stood. The object is generally to see if the crocuses are blooming. I was not disappointed. These hardy flowers bloom even when temperatures are a little below zero. They grow in areas where the original grass, prairie wool, is still growing. The area I visit is on the south side of a hill in some pasture land that was owned by my father and is still in the family.
