MAIDSTONE — Aug. 25 the local AG Foods grocery store owner and manager Victor Zarowny celebrated his sixth anniversary in business. He and his staff supplied 350 patrons with a complete fried chicken dinner, beverage and dessert. The parking lot adjacent to the store was set up with tables and chairs for everyone’s convenience. Each customer was given a handy cloth shopping bag to keep. Tickets were available for the numerous door prizes.

Bingo was played at the Maidstone Drop in Centre Aug. 26 with Bev Stewart and Cheryl MacAskill doing the calling. Keith Weston won the loonie pot. Cheryl supplied lunch.

Cribbage was played Aug. 31 with high score going to Jean Hartman and low to Dorothy Kissick. Lunch was provided by Dorothy Schwartz.

A big thank you to Bev Stewart and Cheryl MacAskill for helping keep the cards and bingo going in July and August. Summer can be long and boring for those who spend the summer in town and most other activities shut down for the summer.

The first meeting of fall season will be at 2 p.m.  Friday, Sept. 4. See you there!
