This weekend’s activities will evoke multiple emotions as graduates celebrate their successful completion of high school. Parents may be feeling melancholy, wondering how 12 years went by so quickly. And, those who welcomed these students into their lives the last several years at UCHS will already be missing them, knowing how different the next school year will be. Everyone is wishing these graduates a safe and happy graduation celebration weekend.
As school is now down to report card distribution, both staff and students are looking forward to a well-deserved summer break, knowing eight weeks will fly by quickly.
July 1 is this Sunday and the organizers of this year’s Canada Day activities would love to the see their efforts be rewarded with a good turnout at the museum. Events include a church service, booth, entertainment, rides, bouncy castles, cake and balloons as well as fireworks on the northwest corner of town at dusk.
The museum grounds play host to Canada Day festivities but they are hoping you spend a summer of visits there and bring along your visiting guests, too. Museum committee members spend much time getting everything ready for viewing in the summer as well as keeping the grounds in great shape. They are thankful to Unity Credit Union and Delta Co-op for completing the deck on the new office. The museum is not just stuff, it’s stories behind every artifact there is history and without visitors they cease to have a purpose. This venue is leaps above many other small town museums in its layout, variety of historical buildings and artifacts and we need to support its organizers. Volunteer to help or ensure at least one visit this year while encouraging others to do the same.
Coffee row folks definitely make note of all the benefits we have in Saskatchewan, especially when needing to go out of town for health and wellness services (with parking being the biggest beef when heading to the city). It was noted that within any given week, the fortune of using, right in Unity, a chiropractor, massage therapist, spa services as well as a hair salon. They also comment that eight weeks of summer flies by quickly and they hope and plan to take in what they can, where they can. So you can see life is full of fun and activity in Unity with our friends at coffee row sharing this traditional part of our community culture. Until next time …
