The Grade 7 and 8 class of Borden School held a dessert theatre in the Borden Community Centre, Feb. 14. Admission was by non-perishable items for the food bank or silver collection to help build a well in Ghana, Africa. The students had adapted the play The Food Drive from a play called Give Me a Break. They had decorated the boxes for food, did up a news media release, made up menus, decorated the tables and were the waiters serving the guests desserts at intermission.

The Food Drive's main character, Callie, volunteers at her local food bank and gets the idea to have a food drive at the school but in the process is quite domineering and thinking more of herself than others. Mabel, a fellow student, really wants to help Callie with her food drive, but Callie gets really annoyed with Mabel and hurts her feelings. As the play unfolds Callie comes to realize Mabel is the generous one, not her. Everyone learns to think of others and to appreciate what you have. Callie and Mable become friends again.

A video was shown on WE - Free the Children, which the students will be attending, Feb. 27 at Credit Union Centre, along with 15,000 other students from across Saskatchewan.
