Good fun, great food, even better people

Story:Paynton Volunteer Fire Dept. raised the roof, and a little cash on New Year's Eve with a small intimate and interactive gathering of local volunteers. The fire department wanted to say thanks to those in our community who help when they can, no matter how small the effort. The guests were treated to an evening of murder and intrigue acted out by eight volunteers who kept the audience in suspense during the marvellous feast. Each of the guests went home full of food and good cheer. What a great way to spend a special evening, with good fun, great food and even better people.

Paynton artists, Mariann Taubensee and Ellery Russell, are busy again, setting up art shows and creating social statements against the wastefulness our society suffers from. The ReArtCycle Group Inc is showing all January long at the Circle Centre Mall in Saskatoon. The Royal Gallery case in the mall is home to seven artists' works created from items most people would not think twice about throwing away. Glass, metal, plastic and even tar paper create an interesting and inspiring showcase for all to see as they do their daily tasks.

The show runs until Feb 2, so if you are in Saskatoon between now and then, be sure to check it out.
