Students are writing exams and preparing for the end of the school year, looking forward to summer holidays. Many families are wrapped up in related activities, but there are still a few non-end-of-the-school-year events out there for people to take note of.

This weekend, look for a chance to see ghosts, bicycle riders on the road and musical events.

Friday, June 21, the second in a series of the Fort Battleford Ghost Walks is scheduled for 9:45 p.m. It may seem late, but if you are going to go for ghost-hunting, the best time to do it is after dark. This is recommended for ages 13 and older.

Saturday, June 22, a group of bicycle riders plans to raise funds for the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation with a trip from North Battleford to Maymont and back. The riders will be members of the Saskatchewan Corrections Charity Bike Riders, a group of correctional officers and invited guests from all over Saskatchewan who organize and participate in charity bike rides. The day of the ride, participants will meet at the parking lot of the Young Offenders facility on the Saskatchewan Hospital grounds at 7:30 a.m. The riders will probably return to the starting point by about 4 p.m. for a barbecue and presentations. They are partnering with Scotiabank, which is planning a barbecue for Thursday, June 20 in front of the bank.

No matter what else is going on, it's always a good time to enjoy music opportunities. Saturday will see a musical evening at Maymont Memorial Hall. It's a jam session/potluck event starting at 4 p.m.

Sunday, June 23, be at Third Avenue United Church in North Battleford for an instalment of the recital series, Music for the Soul. The concert will feature pianist Jaya Hoy, cellist Scott McKnight and clarinetist Paul Hyunbai. Hoy is a pianist who has performed extensively throughout Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States. She has been back in North Battleford, her home town, for three years now and is active in the local music community. She and mezzo suprano Lisa Hornung are the founders of the Music for the Soul series. McKnight holds a Master of Music in Cello Performance and has also performed extensively, including three recent performances of the musical HONK! at the Dekker Centre, put on by the Battlefords Children's Choir. He has a private studio in Saskatoon. Hyunbai is a member of the North Battleford Concert Band and holds a Bachelor of Musi degree majoring in clarinet from Yonsei Universit in Seoul, Korea. He played in a number of orchestras in Seoul before emigrating to Canada. He has enjoyed playing for Battlefords audiences in several gala concerts at the Dekker Centre. The show starts at 3 p.m.
