Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation's Festival of Trees is in its 17th year and again promises to be an entertaining, exciting three days from Friday, Nov. 30 to Sunday, Dec. 2.

The semi-formal "Masquerade: An Elegant Illusion" Gala Evening Saturday, Dec. 1 seats 300 guests in the beautifully decorated Gold Ridge Centre in North Battleford. The Gala Evening dinner, in the spirit of family and friendship, will be served "family style."

Organizers say this manner of serving for each table will be in a traditional and time honoured style, to acknowledge the importance of comradeship, goodwill and the importance of sharing family values this time of year.

Live entertainment will be the infamous Saskatoon Soap's Improv Comedy Co. The Soaps have been performing live, improvised comedy since 1984. It's fast-moving, funny and entertainment for all ages, organizers say. Cast includes media personalities, school teachers, professional actors and students of comedy.

Fundraising efforts for the evening will be supported through a live auction, as well as the ongoing bidding for the seasonally decorated trees, outdoor displays and numerous decorated items.

Co-chairs of Gala Evening, Corinne Bernier-Delainey, Diane Dunsmore and Celine Comfort, say they very excited about the auction packages available, which a Frontiers North Adventure Churchill Polar Bear Tour (value of $7,000), a kayak camping package on the Saskatchewan River and a Darwin Atcheynum carving with soapstone from Lac La Ronge.

Diamond sponsors of the Festival of Trees are The Gold Eagle Casino and SIGA.

Community support and generosity helps the foundation enrich health care in BUH's emergency room and laboratory with the purchase of critical medical equipment from funds raised from the 2012 Festival of Trees.
