The time has come to get together for a big old fashioned day of fun in Paynton.
The "Raise the Roof" fundraiser is an all day event Saturday, running from 11 a.m. CST until the wee hours of the morning at Paynton Gym. This event is to raise money towards a grant to rebuild the roof of the only heated, year round recreation facility in town.
The day begins with a craft and bake sale and Paynton Farmers' Market vendors. The library ladies have organized the sale, lunch and various forms of entertainment. There will be crafts and colouring for the kids, cards and puzzles,music and talent from locals and best of all, food.
Danica Lorer will be dazzling the crowd with her tales of the season followed by The Yellowhead Ramblers and friends who start around 5 p.m. Beef on a bun withall the fixings will also start around the same time and be served all evening.
Bidding on silent auction items will run all evening as well, so make sure you stay until the end to get that last bid on the sheet.
Paynton Volunteer Fire Department along with some village councillors will be hosting the bar, so please be sure to have your designated driver organized. There is no charge for coming to the event so even if you cannot bid or buy anything, come out for lunch orsupper and a visit with your neighbours.
