The Borden Friendship Club held a Valentine’s tea for Telemiracle on Feb. 11, with 44 dropping in to enjoy strawberry shortcake. Collected at the door and going to Telemiracle will be $210. The bake table proceeds went to the club.
Five prizes of chocolates were raffled off going to Helen Sutherland, Don Dyck, Brenda McCracken, Stella Hawryluk and Lorraine Olinyk. The 50/50 of $32.50 went to Ron Suderman. Winning door prizes brought by the members were Jean Sawchyn, Eileen Petrun, Ann Wardhaugh, Fran Olsewski, Vera Dear, Martha Rempel, Brenda Tumbach, Stella Hawryluk, Stan Foster, Ron Suderman, Don Dyck, Ivan and Velora Friesen, Jeannine Fast and Peggy Wainwright.
At the Kaiser tournament Feb. 9, the winners were Jean Sawchyn and Julia Innes. Next Kaiser is Feb. 23 and bingo was held Feb. 17.
School is closed for the February break, but when they get back, the junior curlers will have a home game in Radisson against Aberdeen Feb. 23 and go to Langham Feb. 26-27 for regional playdowns. Badminton will get started after the break and seniors’ playoffs will be April 27 and 30 while the juniors will play off May 3, 5 and 7.
Grades 5 – 12 will be going on a ski trip to Table Mountain March 2.
The Borden Anglican and United Churches co-hosted the Shrove Tuesday pancake and sausage supper Feb. 9 in the Borden Seniors’Room. There were a good number out to enjoy the meal with whipped cream, strawberries and saskatoons to add to the pancakes along with the traditional syrups.
