I'm coming to you this week from Telkwa, B.C. after a long drive Friday evening and Saturday. I travelled with my granddaughter Shari from Lloydminster and we stopped overnight at Hinton, Alta.. We had seen two deer before that and we saw six more along the way, as well as six bears, about one every hundred miles. Through the Prince George area the tent caterpillars have eaten the leaves off all the deciduous trees, which really spoils the scenery. The rivers are running rapidly and there are many falls but we didn't stop at any because of the time element.

Duplicate bridge was played at the Do Drop In June 10. Winners were first Ray and Marnie Davie and second, Margaret Dyck and Ross Morton.

June 13 was a Friday, as well as full moon, so how did your day go? I had no problems and hope no one else did.

The price of gasoline just kept rising as we drove westward. At Leduc, Alta. it was $121.9, at Hinton it was $134.9 and here I believe it is $139.9.

The purpose of this trip is to attend the graduation exercises for my grandson Linden, on Friday at Smithers Secondary School. But it was also great to be with my son Gordon on his 59th birthday and for Father's Day, for Shari. It's been many years since that has happened. There were 14 family members for supper that Sunday.

Contract bridge played at the Do Drop In on June 16 found the top score held by Mary Greenwald and second by Vernon Iverson. They always have a fun time these evenings.

The residents of Westside Place are most appreciative of the donation of petunias for their flower beds by the Meota Lakeshore Lions Club. These add so much color to the area and brighten the days for many, all summer long.

Our neighbour, Cliff McNabb is still in Battlefords Union Hospital and truly appreciates all visits from his friends and neighbours.

Watching birds is an endless pleasure here as the number of Rufus and Caliope hummingbirds are many, and always attending the feeders. The sunflower feeders are busy with Pine Siskins, yellow shafted Flickers, the odd sparrow and so on.
