Frequent rains create lush landscape

We have had some rain every other day during the past week. We have been fortunate not to have had the bad wind storms that have plagued some parts of the prairies.

We have had some rain every other day during the past week. We have been fortunate not to have had the bad wind storms that have plagued some parts of the prairies. Crops are lodged in some places, however, which will cause problems as harvest comes along.

Since we seem to have had rain on a regular basis all summer, everything looks green and beautiful and the growth is unusual. Gardens are producing well but keeping weeds in check has been a real problem.

Being a long weekend, many people have taken advantage of the time to enjoy a golfing weekend or time at the lake. The Blyth family is spending the weekend at Silver Lake. Murray is an ardent golfer.

Terry and René Pike and some of their family are also away on a golfing weekend.

Bernice Hope joined members of her family for a week of holidays at Murphy Lake. There they enjoyed boating and other water sports. The fishing was good.

Forty-one people attended a parish wide service July 29. Rev. Young, parish minister, presided over the service and the bishop from Saskatoon attended and presented the sermon.

The service was followed by a potluck supper and social time at the Forest Bank Community Centre.

Gully Gus says, "Progress is risky. You can't steal second base with one foot on first."
