Our sympathy to Crystal Nelson and family on the death of her mother, Mrs. Atlfield, a former Waseca resident. The funeral as held on the weekend.

Congratulations to Mikayla Lumgair and Joyce Myette on the birth of a baby girl, Mary Jean Rose, on July 2. Mary Jean Rose is a first great-grandchild for Arlee Lumgair. Congratulations, Arlee.

Ben Ponto, a former resident of Waseca area left July 11 after spending some time visiting family and old friends. He was accompanied by his son Royce and they were guests of Vic and Bev Hult while here. While a young person, Ben lived with his parents and siblings in the Doe Valley school district north of Maidstone then the Walter district north of Waseca. Those times, 1927 and through the 1930s, were times of hard work and lean years. Ben had a busy life including serving overseas with the Canadian Armed Forces. He and his wife, Elsie, returned to farm in the Walter district. Among other things he joined the Waseca Royal Canadian Legion and his wife joined the auxiliary.

Many jobs and adventures were part of Ben's life. He and Elsie and their family finally settled in Newmarket, Ont. in 1959 where they have resided. Keeping busy ever since not only at work, but with hobbies, he has returned to this area for many visits. This time, at the age of 96, he visited many people. At home they still enjoy dancing and other hobbies in good health.

Arlee Lumgair has had a busy time. Her grandson, Arlan Lumgair of Meadow Lake, takes part in rodeo as a junior steer rider. He has been in many rodeos this summer in many parts of Saskatchewan including Keliher and Kerrobert. Arlee has attended some of the rodeos, watching. Arlan does very well.

From July 16 to 18, Arlee will be taking part in a quilt retreat at Piper's Lake near Shellbrook. Who says retirement is dull.
