MAIDSTONE — Maidstone Museum Board met July 18. Board members are: president Danielle Hollingshead, vice-president John Anderson, treasurer Bill McGilvery, secretary Kathy Utri, Eileen Anderson, Christine Carlson, Georgina Bahr and Trina Tuplin. If you’d like to join us as a member or volunteer, we welcome you. Next meeting is Monday, Aug. 15 (7 p.m.) at the museum.
Museum hours will remain Saturday and Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. until Sept. 5, or call to book a tour or event anytime: museum 306-893-2890, John 780-871-1027, Kathy 306-893-2799.
The museum had five school groups visit at the end of June, one from Lashburn and four from Maidstone. Eileen organizes the programs for each group and the children respond enthusiastically to learning about the past. Eileen, John and Christine did a great job.
Thank you to all who have come out to support the museum. There are still some raffle tickets left ($10 each) with three great prizes. Don’t miss out. The draw is July 29.
Sunday, Aug. 14 at 11 a.m., the museum is hosting an open service at Faith Church on the museum grounds, with a potluck lunch following. Everyone is welcome to participate in this fellowship. Cold water, iced tea, coffee, plates, cutlery and napkins will be provided.
The annual corn roast is Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. This marks the museum’s last planned event of the season.
Further to last week’s softball news, Maidstone’s U13 girls also won their league and U15 boys placed second in theirs. Kudos to the coaches who spend a lot of time with our young players, and to everyone for their enthusiastic support. This week, the U11s are in the news with their gold win at the AA Tier 2C provincials in Unity. They went five straight undefeated with some fantastic teeth-clenching games.
Maidstone hosts Tier 1 U13 provincials this weekend July 22 to 24, so be sure to take in the games. There’s a full slate at the Silver Lake and Maidstone diamonds starting at 2 p.m. Friday and going to finals Sunday.
Reminder, Vacation Bible School is next week, July 25 to 28 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Maidstone Grace Community Church. There are 33 pre-registered so it’s going to be an exciting week. To register your children ages 5 to 11 please text or phone 306-716-6682.
