With mild days the snow is sinking and disappearing.

With mild days the snow is sinking and disappearing. Sunday the temperature rose to 6 C, a lovely day! We can look forward to similar weather as Thursday is the first day of spring!

Congratulations to Arlan Lumgair, Arlee Lumgair's grandson who came in first in his category in wrestling at Prince Albert winter games. He is now sporting a gold medal.

Welcome home to Vic Hult following a five-day stay in Lloydminster Hospital.

Jean McPherson and Jim Maxwell, their son Robbie and his friend Angela recently returned from a week spent in Victoria and Salt Spring Island, B.C. As well as sightseeing they visited friends among whom was Faith Brown, a former Waseca resident.

Jim and Jean's daughter, Julie is presently in France. Among her many activities have been spending a few weeks picking olives, attending French language school, doing a variety of other jobs and sightseeing.

Crystal and Hosea Mendez and family, assisted by family members, have now moved out to their farm home north of Waseca. It has been a busy time preparing the house for moving in and moving. The boys will now be riding the school bus a little farther each day.

Their house in Waseca was originally built by Crystal's great-grandfather, Karl Hult, who lived there for a number of years with his wife, Ida. Now Karl's great-great-grandson, Josh Hult, has bought the house and will be residing there shortly.

Some events coming up in Waseca in the near future are the annual "fish fry" that takes place Friday evening. The evening includes supper, silent auction, live auction and musical entertainment. Tickets are available at the village office. Also during the evening tickets will be available for the raffle of a 2014 Polaris quad and a Louisiana smoker. The draw for these two items will be made at the Father's Day lunch.

The annual Waseca Walkathon will be held Saturday, May 3.

The annual "Waseca cleanup," which includes village, cemetery and heritage church cleanup, and a hot dog lunch courtesy of Waseca Firemen, will be held on Saturday, April 26. Many hands make light work!

Janet Makey returned March 16 from seven days spent in Florida. She was accompanied by her daughter, Jennie, who teaches school in Ontario and was on school break.

While there they were guests of Janet's mother who lives in Florida from October to May each year. They had a very busy schedule. Besides spending some time on the beach they visited Disney World, the Epcott Centre, the botanical gardens and Hollywood studios as well as visiting places on ferry boats.

Spring seems to be moving times. A few new residents have arrived in Waseca, so there are no vacancies at present.
