Local musicians Lana Quinn and Byron Olsen are set to release their new CD, Firefly.

Quinn's soprano voice and 36 string harp have been featured at many local events and concerts over the years. She has recorded two CDs of original songs. Quinn has taught voice, piano, guitar and harp in private music lessons for 16 years.

Olsen has performed in several bands but is best known as a singer/guitarist for the Saskatchewan band Crooked Creek. He has recorded and produced CDs for many Saskatchewan artists.

Olsen's style is characterised by blues and jazz, lead and slide guitar.?

The duo liked the concept of musically adding beauty to beauty and chose the name Gild the Lily. They began to co-write and arrange songs three years ago, with the goal of writing songs that are lyrically and musically strong. Another goal was to create innovative arrangements for the harp and guitar.

During the recording process extra musicians were hired. Don Tachel from North Battleford was hired to play drums and Pete Laflamme to play bass.

Firefly has traditional Celtic and original compositions. The CD release concert will be held on Nov. 27, at the Chapel Gallery in North Battleford.
