St. Peter’s School will be back Monday, April 13. The school is hosting their SCC family dance and silent auction as a fundraiser for school projects April 17. I believe I heard Mr. Wilgenbusch, retired principal, may be providing some of the music. And it is the last feverish stages of music festival practices now that the break is over. The St. Peter’s band, choral speaking groups and choirs are putting the last minute touches on their festival performances that will take place April 22 at the school.

Unity Public School will also return from Easter break renewed to finish the school year in style. In addition to their curriculum learning, students involved in both speaking and song performances for the upcoming music festival will be putting their last minute touches on their work to perform April 22 at the school portion of the music festival. April 15 at 7 p.m. will be the school community council annual meeting.

At Unity Composite High School a busy badminton season and ramping up of practices for the Track and Field Club are on the agenda.

April 14 and 15 are the public performances for the drama club. The regional drama festival are coming up right after the Easter break.

Graduating students are finding their time at UCHS ticking away as they put the finishing touches on their scholarship applications and remain focused to finish their high school years on a positive note.

Ball season has moved indoors until the diamonds can dry up a little more. Mark May 10 on your calendar as this will be the annual Minor Ball Day that will feature at least one game with every division of minor ball.

Soccer will also be hitting the fields as soon as they dry up as registration has taken place.

April 18 will be the spring trade show at the Unity curling rink. A number of booths are ready to showcase their merchandise for spring shoppers.

This year’s Unity Western Days is moved up to the May 23 weekend. Many of the same action packed events will be taking place in addition to continuation of the “celebrity bull riding” event. Organizers want folks to start their training early if they are planning to participate.

Opening day at the museum is set for May 10 at 2 p.m. at the Adanac Hall. This event will feature 35th anniversary celebrations. The T-Rex display is arriving May 5 and will be held at the museum for several weeks .

Coffee row folks are reveling in the signs of spring. Conversations have leaned towards the spring seeding projections, as well as talk on both the NHL season as it leans towards playoffs and the upcoming Rider season.  No matter what the topic is, or which side of topic table they are on, we can be sure they will reconvene tomorrow for a chance to catch up on current events and community activities as well as sharing a few laughs along the way.
