The Lumber River Quartet will be presenting a concert of southern gospel-style music at the Sonningdale Complex Oct. 6, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Lumber River is a well-known southern gospel ministry based out of Lumberton, N.C. They travel and minister all across the U.S. and Canada.
Ronald, Glenn, Greg and Les have appeared on TV and radio and are national recording artists. With smooth harmonies, a live energetic style and some good Christian humour, Lumber River gives the message God has given them, in hopes of seeing people everywhere come to know Jesus as their personal saviour. The group consists of Glenn West, Ronald Freeman, Greg Justice and Les Grant.
Glenn West is the baritone singer for Lumber River and has been with the group since it started in 1985. Glenn began singing with his family many years ago, travelling around North and Â鶹´«Ã½AV Carolina. He plays the piano and also works in the office for the group. He has written a lot of songs and teaches kids how to play the piano.
Ronald Freeman is the tenor singer for Lumber River and has been singing gospel music all his life. Ronald is a native American and comes from the Lumbee tribe of North Carolina. Since he is native American and sounds like a woman when he sings, the group nicknamed him Pocahontas.
Greg Justice sings lead for Lumber River and is originally from Kentucky. Raised in a pastor's home, Greg started singing at the age of five. He has sung with several different quartets and trios and he just loves to sing. Greg enjoys riding his Harley during the warm months, driving the Lumber River Quartet bus. Someday he hopes to have his own log cabin.
Les Grant is the bass singer for Lumber River. He and his family live in Marion, N.C. Les has been singing southern gospel music for the past 30-plus years. He gives God all the credit for the blessings his family has experienced in their lives.
You can find Lumber River Quartet, and hear them sing, online at lumberriverministries.com. The concert at Sonningdale Oct. 6 has free admission but a love offering will be taken for the group.
