With a mandate to promote and preserve fiddle music and dance - and because of their on-going work within the province to keep the heritage and culture of old time fiddling alive and growing - the John Arcand Fiddle Fest will be presenting the 18th annual Old Time Fiddle Contest at the Western Development Museum, Saturday, Nov. 10.

There is a notable time change from past years. The doors will open at 5 p.m. There will be free workshops from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the contest will begin at 7 p.m. After the contest, some chairs will be moved and it will be time for another great piece of prairie heritage - an old time dance.

The workshops will feature an "absolute beginners" class (where fiddles will even be provided if you would like to try), a beginner class and one intermediate/advanced class and are free with admission.

The WDM catering staff will be offering supper specials from 5 to 7 p.m.

Thos who would like to sponsor or be a part of this community event celebrating music, promoting youth and offering entertainment, call 306-382-0111

Organizers say everyone benefits from the arts.
