Maidstone Gully Multiple 4-H Club held a general meeting Feb. 7.

Members discussed many topics for another exciting month, and the many activities participated in during the previous month.

Maidstone hosted 4-H district curling Jan. 10. Maidstone Gully had one senior team consisting of Rylea Eggeson (skip), Jordi Skolrood (third), Angie Boggust (second), Morgan Doepker and Meckenzie Decker (alternating leads) and a junior team consisting of Megan Danychuk (skip),Sean Carson (third), Savannah Carson (second), and Doug and Kenny Sroka (alternating leads). Both teams won all of their games and moved on to regional curling. At regional curling both teams had a lot of fun and played well in their games. Although, both teams came very close to moving on, neither teams advanced to provincials.

In January, we had a skating party at Jordi Skolrood's. We went skating, snowmobiling, sledding and had a fire. We also played games and roasted marshmallows and hotdogs. It was a very fun experience.

Feb.16, we held our annual communications night, where every member must write and present a speech on the topic of their choice. There were many great speeches on a variety of topics from shooting your first deer to hockey to a day on the farm. Winners were Rylea Eggeson (senior), Angie Boggust (intermediate), Wyatt Murphy (junior), and Hannah Bedwell (Cloverbud). Runners-up were Morgan Doepker (intermediate) and Kenny Sroka (junior). All winners moved on to district public speaking Feb. 27.

Our annual Cowboy Poetry Night fundraiser will be held March 12 at 5:30 p.m. at Milleton Hall. It is a night filled with cowboy poetry and jokes by local entertainers. Tickets are $15 per person. For tickets please call 306-895-4227.
