Father's Day celebrated with homemade baking

The annual Father's Day Strawberry and Ice Cream Tea was held at the centre Friday, June 14. The homemade baking table went well, as usual. People really enjoy homemade baking. The raffle table was looked after by Lil McMillan and Dorothy Kissick and both donated prizes were won by Milt and Lil McMillan. The Father's Day donated prize just for men was won by Morris Coulthard and the door prize, also donated, was won by Dorothy Schwartz.Vera Hintz collected the tea charge for the 43 people who attended making this an enjoyable and profitable afternoon. Tickets had been sold for several months on a homemade quilt and this was drawn for at the tea and won by Valorie Morrison.

Cards were played Monday, June 17 with Jean Hartman hosting in place of Denise Newton who supplied the lunch. High score went to Jean Stewart and low to Bev Stewart.

Bingo was played June 19 with Jean Smither and Margaret MacEachern doing the calling. The loonie pot was won and divided between Noel Coulthard, Marlyne Stewart, Norma Hougan and Dorothy Schwartz. Lunch was provided by Tillie Linkert and Joan Smith and there were strawberries and ice cream left over from the Father's Day tea. What a lunch!

The May, June, July pot luck birthday luncheon was held Thursday, June 20 with 18 seniors in attendance. The birthday people seated at the head table were Shannon Smith, Bev Stewart, Horma Hougan, Dorothy Harmel, Denise Newton and Lil McMillan. Missing was Laurence Dan Ouden and Doreen Hope. Following a bountiful and delicious lunch, cards were played by those who stayed. At the cribbage table, high score went to Dorothy Schwartz and low to Jean Stewart. A number of people played a card game named Golf. Nine hands make up a game. The high score went to Denise Newton.

The August, September, October birthday will be held in September as there are no organized activities in July and August at the centre.
