Farmers not getting much sleep

No, Sonningdale has not disappeared off the map. We haven't even been sleeping. Well some of us have, but farmers, probably not too much. The usual tasks are in full swing as expected.

No, Sonningdale has not disappeared off the map. We haven't even been sleeping. Well some of us have, but farmers, probably not too much. The usual tasks are in full swing as expected. Hopefully the weather will co-operate and "all will be safely gathered in."

A special day for Linda and Gary Osmachenko was Aug. 4, as they celebrated their 40th anniversary in the Sonningdale Hall. Family and friends spent a great deal of time visiting and reminiscing over supper. Later Scott, Gary and Linda's son were master of ceremonies for the evening's celebration.

The grandchildren acted out a day at the farm, which I am sure was very entertaining. A video was also shown depicting the last 40 years. I was really sorry to have missed it. Musical entertainment ended the very special day.

We wish Gary and Linda our congratulations and may they spend many more happy years together. God bless you both.

A great day for Joyce Csiki and Donald Dimmick was Aug. 11 as they were married in Sonningdale Pentecostal Church, with Pastor Martyn Crabtree officiating.

The bride looked radiant, wearing a red blouse and a cream coloured skirt. The short, cream colored cape she wore finished the outfit perfectly. The groom looked dashing in his creamy beige jacket and black pants. His red shirt and black tie brought it all together. Maid of honour was Glenna Klassen, sister of the bride. Bridesmaid was Winnie Schultz, sister-in-law. Both ladies looked charming in their matching red and white dresses. Best man was Brent Dimmick, son of Donny, and groomsman was Devin Dimmick, grandson.

The reception was later held in the Sonningdale Hall.

The bride and groom stayed the night in Saskatoon and, the following day, set off for an enjoyable honeymoon touring North and Â鶹´«Ã½AV Dakota.

Thankfully for us, the happy couple have settled down in the "vast metropolis" of Sonningdale. We pray that the Lord will richly bless them in their new lives together.

Another special event took place Aug. 30 in the Sonningdale Hall when May and Jim Schultz celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

MC for the evening was Andrew Johnson, grandson, who shared the responsibilities with Katylin White, granddaughter. During the evening, the six daughters of the couple - Janet, Robin, Krista, Patty, Glenna and Beverly - plus the grandchildren delightfully sang You Are My Sunshine. The girls and their spouses beautifully sang I've Got A Mansion, Just Over The Hilltop. Solos by Bill Schultz and Martyn Crabtree were well suited to the occasion and were also well sung. Janet, the eldest daughter, spoke of the wonderful spiritual heritage she had received from her parents and was extremely grateful.

A very interesting and humorous picture presentation was shown by Amanda Scheer, granddaughter, depicting the grandchildren with unusual facial expressions and various poses.

I believe that, for May and Jim, the greatest part of the evening was the presence of all the family - their pride and joy.

God bless you both and may you have many more happy memories in the future.

September also promises to be a special month for many as they celebrate anniversaries and "special" birthdays. These include Harold Close, David Klassen, Dennis Stenerson, Jim Schultz and Dee MacInnes. A special potluck supper will be held Sept. 30 to celebrate. Please come and join us if you can. All are welcome.
