Family helps resident celebrate 96th birthday

Hi There! Well, I don't think most of us mind seeing the last of June this year. It had been a very dreary and rainy month. So hopefully July will be nice and sunny.

Hi There! Well, I don't think most of us mind seeing the last of June this year. It had been a very dreary and rainy month. So hopefully July will be nice and sunny. Even if it was cloudy outside the tenants maintained their sunny dispositions inside.

June 6, we all enjoyed a barbecue of hamburgers with all the trimmings. Thanks to Larry (our caretaker) who cooked the hamburgers for us. There's nothing tastier then barbecued food.

June 12, we all sat down to a delicious supper of barbecued chicken, vegetables, salads and dessert catered by Second to None. It's so nice to enjoy someone else's cooking other than your own.

In June also we were delighted to have the Country Cousins entertain us with our favourite country songs and music. One cousin did a wonderful imitation of Johnny Cash. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Some of our tenants enjoyed having company or travelling out of town in June.

Anne Loades was happy to have many visitors in June. Her son Ron from Edmonton, Alta., her niece Carol and her husband Don Jamison from Maple Ridge, B.C., a friend Bea Langner from Sherwood Park, Alta., Bev Degensteen from Saskatoon and Frieda and Gord Hellofs from Battleford as well as many special friends in North Battleford. This was all to celebrate her 96th birthday. Congratulations from us all, Anne.

June 8, Shirley Tebay attended the baptism service of a great-granddaughter, Sadie Jean Tebay in Lashburn. A lovely lunch followed the service.

June 11, Bev and Murray McCrimmon were happy to see Bev's sister Loret Wright and her friend Donna Kaiser travel all the way from Delta, Col. Murray and Bev kept them busy by taking them to the museum in St. Walburg and the Imhoff Gallery. Saturday, they had a family gathering in Battleford at her niece's place.

The next day they all went to the WDM here and to the wildlife and interpretive centre. Then they rested to get ready for their 1,200-mile trip home. You must have had a wonderful visit, folks!

Cecile Dupuis was glad to have her son Bernard Dupuis, his wife Alice and granddaughter Bonnie and husband Darcy and two great-grandchildren all come from Port Albernie, B.C. to attend a granddaughter's wedding. You must have had a lovely time together, Cecile.

Mary Birch informed me that her great-granddaughter Abbie, who belongs to the air cadets all travelled to Vimy Ridge a famous landmark of the First World War then on to London where they saw the Queen. It is wonderful how you young people can travel now to different parts of the world. You can be very proud of her too, Mary.

We were very saddened here at the Tower on the passing away of three of our tenants. They were Katie Fehr, Laurine Wohlberg and Bob Sarrasin. They had all resided here for many years. Bob was our president for sometime and organized many of our social events and also put on Christmas dinners in the lounge for those that couldn't go anywhere for Christmas. He was the one that was preparing that "turkey" that was stolen out of the oven. I think everyone heard about that! Anyway we will miss them all here and wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the families.

This will be my last report until September so I want to wish you all a wonderful and healthy summer.

Take care, everyone, and see you in the fall.
