Welcome to our new dentist to town, Dr. Vik Boparai, who along with his wife, Simran, have taken over the Unity Dental Clinic from Dr. Azeulos. Dr. Azeulos will be working alongside Dr. Boparai until year end when he officially retires. It was nice to hear from Dr. Boparai that he chose Unity over another location because of the friendliness of the people who made him and his wife feel most welcome here.

If you weren't able to grow a garden this year, or enjoy some home baked goodness, make sure to stop by the weekly Unity Farmers' Market each Thursday starting at 2 p.m. located at the Unity Friendship Centre, directly across from the Unity Credit Union.

The Fun Family Circus is coming to town on Aug. 28 for a 7 p.m. show. Advance tickets are available from the town office.

Delta Coop and Unity Credit Union partnered together to ride the "Big Bike" to benefit the Heart and Stroke foundation this past Wednesday. Team CUCO consisted of staff from both businesses in town and all participants came out to have some fun, dressing up and taking on the fundraising challenge to see which business could come out with the most dollars. Delta Co-op staff won that challenge bringing in over $5,800 thanks to staff member Karen Brien who raised $1,220 herself. The combined total from these two businesses was over $10,000.

Cinema Satellite electronics store is now open on Main Street. It's great to see this location active again. The former Cinema Satellite will be opening soon as "Guy's Furniture".

The ALS ice bucket challenge continues to make waves as many locals have now been challenged and have taken the challenge participating in this fundraising and awareness campaign. Congratulations everyone who has accepted the challenge as well as those who have donated. Keep paying it forward!

Coffee row have Rider season on the table regularly now as the season progresses. Predictions for the remainder of the season are an ongoing topic. Can the winning streak continue? Will Dressler come back to Riderville? Stay tuned folks…. As I've said before, our fine folks on coffee row are the best in weather experts as we know that wisdom can predict what modern science always cannot. Experience can tell us what the weather channels don't and, hearty laughter helps us all realize no matter what Mother Nature hands out, there is always a place for a good laugh. Upcoming harvest, whether in the fields or in the gardens, provides some table talk, too. As differences around the world lead to violence, we can take pride and pleasure knowing no matter which side of the story you take, there is always a smile to share, a laugh to be heard and reassurance of reconvening the conversation the next day. So you see we keep busy in Unity with activities and wisdom from our friends on coffee row. Until next week.
