Extended summer weather appreciated

Fall is here in all its glory. The trees have turned to such beautiful colours of orange, gold and crimson everywhere. I guess we have Indian Summer now, as the weather has been so warm and lovely too.

Fall is here in all its glory. The trees have turned to such beautiful colours of orange, gold and crimson everywhere. I guess we have Indian Summer now, as the weather has been so warm and lovely too.

September was busy here at the Tower, especially meal wise. It is said, "all we do here is eat." Perhaps they are right as we do enjoy our food.

Sept. 7 there was a delicious steak barbecue. We all enjoyed a Grandparents' Day pancake breakfast Sept. 9. That designation takes in pretty well all of us here.

Sept. 21, a Chinese supper from the Wall of China Express gave us a wonderful variety of food. Later in the evening Joan and Wilf Rice along with Bob Mullet entertained with their great music and singing.

Our birthday party was held Sept. 17. This was honouring July, August and September celebrants. Congratulations and best wishes go to you all. For entertainment we had a talent show. All participants who performed live here. George Milnthorp and Hilde Lessing favoured us with some great tunes on their harmonicas. Eldon Jones played some old favourites on his violin. Ann Ewanchuk sang and yodeled a western song with her guitar. I sang The best Things in Life Are Free. Mary Dearbon gave a comical reading. Everyone did a great job and some even had encores.

Joan Blixrud was happy to have her sister-in-law from Weyburn visit for a few days.

Edith Lockhart had two nieces call on her. One is from Victoria, B.C. and the other from Panama, U.S.A.

What a wonderful and memorable summer it was for Ann Ewanchuk. She didn't realize how many functions she attended until writing this. She attended an 80th anniversary at the Orthodox Church in Glaslyn. For her birthday, her daughter Erinka and husband Rory and son Orst and wife Chrissy took her to the golf club restaurant. Her daughter-in-law Chris drove her home to Whtikow where they visited the grave of her husband Uhan. The young farmers had just finished cutting the crass and the site was very neat.

For the first time in her life she witnessed a sport called demolition derby. Her grandson Nickolas took part.

She attended the 40th anniversary of her friends Oliver and Shirley Lamontange. She enjoyed seeing many people she hadn't seen for a long time. It was also nice at the BridgeFest breakfast with Erinka and Rory. Her nephew Michal Ewanchuk and Keagan from Calgary were married in Whitefish, Mont. She was unable to attend but was happy that Roman and Liz and their families attended. She enjoys volunteering with the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation Lotto and is also a volunteer helper at River Heights Lodge where she has many acquaintances.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Ada Pasutto and family on the death of Mario Pasutto. He was the longtime resident here but had moved to River Heights Lodge. The funeral was held in Cut Knife, their original home.

Get well wishes go out to Bob Sarrasin, who is in the hospital now. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Our thoughts are also with all those who are not feeling well and hope you are better soon.

Take care everyone.
