Exhibit features selections from permanent collection

I have recently joined the team at the Allen Sapp Gallery and the Chapel Gallery as the curator/manager of galleries.

I have recently joined the team at the Allen Sapp Gallery and the Chapel Gallery as the curator/manager of galleries. While I have been settling in and getting myself oriented with the galleries, the staff has been busy developing exhibitions, educational programs and scheduling workshops.

It is exciting to arrive in North Battleford and jump right into the activities that are going on in the galleries. The staff are creative and ambitious and I look forward to working with them, as well as participating in the workshops and getting to know the regional community better. Feel free to stop by either gallery, to introduce yourself to me, and of course take in the beautiful artistic creations on exhibit. I look forward to meeting you.

Open up the Vault! is on exhibit at the Chapel Gallery from Wednesday, Oct.3 to Nov.5. It is comprised of the City of North Battleford - Chapel Gallery permanent collection. This is a wonderful opportunity to come and see works created locally and collected over the last decades.

Featured in the Windows Gallery until Oct. 31 is Nature Morte by Liza Gareau Tosh. Tosh is of French-Canadian and Métis ancestry, and her work always has drawings at their core. Her greatest influences are the likes of artists of both Baroque and Impressionist groups, as well as Matisse, Tom Thompson and Emily Carr.

Dean Bauche will lead a workshop, Rethinking Landscapes, Oct. 12 and 13. This workshop will explore a simple and new approach to landscape painting by using time honoured classical painting techniques along with HDR photography that will impact the quality of landscape painting in oil, acrylics and watercolour. Call the Chapel Gallery 445-1757 to register or for more details.

Nokum - Grandmother is on display at Allen Sapp Gallery until Nov.4.
