Excited Grade 4 students head to the ski hill

It is Monday morning and it is light as I walk to the school. The building will soon be a beehive of activity because all the buses were able to run today.

It is Monday morning and it is light as I walk to the school. The building will soon be a beehive of activity because all the buses were able to run today. Last week the MADD presentation had to be postponed as well as the Grade 7 and 8 ice fishing expedition to Jackfish Lake. Both of these events will take place at a later date.

Elementary house leagues, Grades 3-6, have finished playing floor hockey and are now playing two rounds of ringette. There have been close matches and it is nice to play in the gym during the cold noon hours. All the teams are close in their point tally and are having lots of fun.

The annual ski trip was Wednesday. The Grade 4 students were excited because this is the first year they could go with the school.

The senior boys' basketball team attended their conference playoffs in Rosthern. They had a small team since only five players were able to attend. They played with heart and displayed a gutsy performance against teams with a full slate of players, but were unable to advance to the next round of playoffs. Thanks to Mr. Lockwood for all the time he spent coaching and developing the teams' skills.

Congratulations to Jayden Caldwell, a kindergarten student, for winning the dog poster in this week's library contest.

Carlee Hamilton and Keeley Bzdel play on a club volleyball team. They played in a tournament in North Battleford on the weekend. Their team placed fifth overall in the tournament.

March 1, the travel club hosted a recreational volleyball tournament. The tournament consisted of a five-team, round-robin competition. During the day, there were lots of laughs and smiles and everyone enjoyed the day. They stated that it was great competition and filled with excellent sportsmanship. The travel club would like to thank all the players for participating and all the fans who came out to watch and supported the teams.

A new sound system has arrived for the gym. It is modern and will be more advanced and hopefully improve the quality of the sound during functions in the gym. Thanks to Ryan Nickell for his help in ordering the new equipment and then driving to Saskatoon to pick it up and deliver it back to the school safely.

Badminton is the next sport that the school is providing as an extra-curricular activity. Mrs. Walker will be coaching the senior team and Ms. Gillatt will be coaching the junior team. We look forward to an exciting season of badminton.

The school will be holding its annual spring book fair from Tuesday, March 18, to Friday, March 21. It is a chance to purchase some new and exciting books.

Have a good week. Spring is just around the corner.
