The first complete set of student-led conferences were held on the evenings of Nov. 19 and 20. It was the first time the two evenings were conducted in this new format. There was an excellent turnout for both evenings. Students were quite excited to share their learning with their parents.
A successful book fair was held during the week of Nov. 17 to 21. The profit from the book fair goes to purchase new books for the library. Ally McCarthy was the lucky winner of the draw and received $25 worth of free books. Thanks to Colleen Fouhy for all her work with the book fair.
This week, several members of the SCC will be in the school to construct a Christmas tree. All students were asked to make a green hand and these will be used to make a Christmas tree.
The junior girls' volleyball team are having their volleyball wind-up this Saturday in Saskatoon. They are going out for supper and then going to watch the University of Saskatchewan women's volleyball team play. The senior girls' volleyball team is planning to attend the volleyball match Friday.
The professional staff attended a professional development day Nov. 24. A guest speaker, Garry Davis, from the Saskatchewan professional development unit, presented information on inquiry. In the afternoon, Cathy Gillatt attended a workshop on the new "Atomic Volleyball" at McKitrick School in North Battleford.
Wayne Milman is currently teaching driver training at the school. Hafford and Maymont get together for this course.
The elementary students have completed flags in house leagues. Their next sport will be ringette followed by floor hockey.
Thanks to Bernie and Shane Bailey for their generous donation of art supplies and kitchen items to the school.
Students and staff are getting excited to start skating. The ice is currently being made by the rink volunteers.
