The school was a very busy place Oct. 31. Staff and students arrived on Halloween dressed in a variety of costumes. There were vampires, princesses, cats, pirates and even Elvis made an appearance.
The kindergarten and Grade 1 class carved large pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns and the Grade 4 and 5 class used sponges to create some interesting pieces of Halloween art.
The SLC created a haunted house for high school and elementary students. A few students left the house looking rather pale and others reported it wasn't scary at all!
In the afternoon, the SLC sponsored a dance for grades kindergarten to 7. They played favourite songs like, YMCA, The Monster Mash and the Chicken Dance. SLC members Cassidy Serhienko, Meghan Brehon, Carlee Hamilton and Sean Brehon did an excellent job organizing the dance and making sure there was a lot of participation.
The senior girls' volleyball team hosted a six-team tournament at the school Nov. 1. The girls played well and advanced to the final against Medstead. They lost the final but finished in second place. This weekend they will begin the first round of playoffs as they try to advance to provincials.
The junior girls' volleyball team attended the pre-district playoffs Nov. 1 at North Battleford Comprehensive High School. There were seven teams in this northern section of the playoffs. The girls played very well in the round robin and advanced to the playoff round. They needed to win against John Paul II in order to advance to districts. They fell short but had a great season.
Grades 10, 11 and 12 travelled to Saskatoon for the "See the Future" Education Career Fair, Nov. 3. There were presentations for many of the post-secondary facilities in Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and even Nova Scotia. It was a very informative day.
The annual Remembrance Day service will be held Nov. 10 at10:45 a.m. This will take place in the school gymnasium and everyone is welcome to attend. The Grade 12 class will be selling chili and buns for lunch following the service.
The school community would like to extend get well wishes to one of the bus drivers, Ben Stenerson, who has been ill and in the hospital. They would also like to send their thoughts and well wishes to former student, Kelsey Wood. She is currently a patient in the Royal University Hospital.
