The annual meeting of the Cut Knife and District Donors' Choice was held at the town office Feb. 22.

The 2012 campaign grossed $15,035. This amount is once again lower than last year but even so, the people of the community are to be commended for their generosity.

There were 117 contributors and the average donation for the mail out canvass was $128.50, which is up from last year's average donation of $91.11. It is interesting to note that there were six generous donations between $500 and $2,000.

Much discussion took place about the "mail out method" of canvassing Cut Knife, Baldwinton, Rockhaven and Gallivan for the 2013 campaign. Although our numbers were down, we still consider the campaign a success and have decided to continue with this method of canvass.

The organization is appreciative of every donation made to 20 charities. Some of these charities have conveyed their sincere gratitude for this benevolent support. Some of the comments are as follows:

"Your kindness is very appreciated and forever remembered by those whose everyday lives are affected by epilepsy."

"I would like to thank you for your hard work and support through the donor's choice program. Your continued financial support is vital to the Canadian Diabetes Association."

Each contributor and canvasser can be proud of the difference your donation makes in the lives of many others in our province and country.

Donors' choice also appreciates the help given by municipalities and businesses. A special note of thanks goes out to Jean Lawes who received, receipted and deposited each and every donation.

Elected to office for the 2013 October campaign were: chair Orval Ens, vice-chair Lorie Gibson, treasurer Don McCallum and secretary Cheryl Rowswell.
