The school year is quickly coming to a close and so are the extracurricular activities. The junior golf district playoffs were held June 10 in Macklin. The golfers from our school were Conner Rothenburger , Ty Fouhy, Tyson Wawryk and Brayden Harris. The weather was extremely windy with a small amount of sun. It was hard to play in the wind. The players were grouped in teams of four and played nine holes. Brayden Harris shot a score of 46 and was awarded the silver medal. It was Brayden's first round of the year. Congratulations to Brayden and the other team members.

The Grade 8 class went to North Battleford June 11, to compete in the cardboard boat races hosted by Skills Canada. The students had to follow a set of rules in the competition. They were given two 4 by 8 foot sheets of cardboard, two X-atco knives, 25 feet of string, one roll of masking tape, and one mini roll of duct tape. They were given an hour and a half to build a boat which they would later be racing in the pool. They would be racing these boats with students, either one or two, in them.

There were heats set up for the competition. The first race was between the two boats from our school. Whichever team won that heat or scored the most points was able to move onto the final. The boys' boat fell apart seconds after it hit the water. The girls' boat made it to the finals, but tipped about halfway down the pool. They had a lot of fun while practising their skills.

The elementary students, Grades 1 to 6, attended the track and field meet in Hafford June 13. The weather was perfect with no rain and enough wind to keep the bugs away. The students competed very well, and showed excellent sportsmanship. Hafford hosted an excellent day. The student helpers were amazing. The hamburgers tasted very good too.

The elementary classes made gifts for Father's Day. The kindergarten and Grade 1 class made dream catchers for their fathers. You hang them up and they catch your good dreams.

The Grades 2 and 3 class made jars of peanuts. Glass jars were filled with peanuts and some peanuts were glued to the lid and spray painted with gold paint. A sign on the side of the jar read, "I'm Nuts About You, Dad!" Staff are not sure all the peanuts made it home to their dads.

The Grades 4 and 5 class painted "Welcome" signs for their dads. The students proudly took their gifts home to their dads.

Many MCS students participated in the inner town ball playoffs that were held at Glenburn Regional Park on the weekend. It was windy but they were able to play.

Mrs. Walker took the Grade 9 students, four Grade 8 students and one Grade 7 student to the Skills Camp in Saskatoon June 16. This was sponsored by Skills Canada Saskatchewan and was a day to explore the skilled trades and technologies.

The kindergarten students officially graduated June 17. This is a great group of 11 students who will be moving to Grade 1 next year. The kindergarten class is made up of Jayden Caldwell, Kara Combres, Ryder Currie, Carson Ducharme, Jasymn Elgersma, Kami Graver, Anneka Harder, Paxton Hein, Bailey Lake, Nate Starycki and Emmerson Voegeli. At their graduation, they sang four songs, received diplomas and ate lots of cake!
