Deepfreeze reprieve brings big wind

The reprieve from the extreme cold weather we experienced was enjoyed by all. However along with the milder temperatures were strong winds Wednesday that were nearing 100 kilometres per hour.


The reprieve from the extreme cold weather we experienced was enjoyed by all. However along with the milder temperatures were strong winds Wednesday that were nearing 100 kilometres per hour. Damage was done in different places and driving was dangerous.


Following that we enjoyed some beautiful days.


Grace Flewell of Red Deere, Alta. spent a few days last weekend with her sister, Sandra Sutherland, visiting with her mother, Eva Sutherland in Pine Island Lodge and other relatives.


Arlee Lumgair left Friday to spend a few days with her family in Meadow Lake. Her grandson, Arlan, takes part in many sports. This weekend he is wrestling.


Gary and Rhonda Benkendorf recently spent some time holidaying in Jamaica.


Jan. 16 news was received of the death of Margaret Bryce (Dumbleton) of Kelowna, B.C. She passed away in a seniors' home that afternoon. Margaret Dumbleton, daughter of Bill and Edith Dumbleton, was raised in the Battlevale District south of Waseca. She attended Battlevale School till the family moved to a farm just east of Waseca in 1941. Margaret married Walter Goodridge and they farmed with their family, living opposite Waseca School till 1961 when Walter retired and they moved to British Columbia. Margaret worked at various jobs in Kelowna. After Walter's death, Margaret remarried. The last few years she has been a resident of a seniors' home in Kelowna. Margaret had many interests and was devoted to her family, Rena, Randy, Virginia and Lori and their families.
