The temperature here, Sunday is -31 C. Cold weather is forecast until Thursday, We have experienced a few very cold spells already this winter. The deep freeze we are now in covers a good part of Canada. When we hear climatologists say the climate is warming, a winter like we have had up till now makes one wonder!
Saturday morning, Jan. 4, we received the news of Marion White of Cut Knife. She passed away in her sleep in the early hours at the age of 95. She had spent the past few months in the seniors' lodge in Cut Knife.
Marian grew up in the Forest Bank district, the daughter of Ted and Lil Wesson and with her brother, Ken attended Forest Bank School.
In 1941 Marian married Albert White who had been working at various jobs in the area. They lived in a house in Waseca, one that Albert built, for a short time until 1942 when Albert joined the army. After his discharge in 1943, Albert began buying grain for Sask. Pool at Newby. He and Marian lived there till his retirement 27 years later when they moved to Cut Knife.
Marion was loved and will be missed by her many relatives and a host of friends. She was a hospitable person who took part in community activities, enjoyed her many friends as they went out together, played cards and visited in her home or enjoyed coffee and visiting. She had a keen memory and a wonderful sense of humour.
Funeral service will be held in Cut Knife at a date that has not yet been announced. A burial service will be held at St. Paul's, Forest Bank in the spring.
