Can May bring us nicer weather than April? C'mon Mother Nature, let us have some nice weather for the rest of summer.

Nicole and Kent Headrick and their children were expecting Easter Bunny tracks in their yard this past Easter weekend, not a return of the animals we are accustomed to seeing at Christmas time. This beautiful photo shows the view from the front room window on the corner of 10th Avenue East and 1st Street East directly across from the ball diamonds. Nicole says they have seen deer at least a half dozen times before outside their window, something you would expect more from a country home. The whole family loves to admire the deer and Nicole says, "we love to share these magical moments with the kids It's a beautiful sight as they peacefully stroll around 10th Avenue."

Can May bring us nicer weather than April? C'mon Mother Nature, let us have some nice weather for the rest of summer. The unrelenting snow and cold is grating on everyone's nerves, and, if you are a believer in the Farmer's Almanac, I dare say things don't look much more promising for May, sigh.

St. Peter's School is busy. After several digital awareness seminars the school is ready for the April session on cyber bullying. The Grade 6 class is in final stages of preparations for their spring dessert theatre, Grandpa's Tall Tales of the Old Testament. This event is always a sell out so contact a St. Peter's Grade 6 student or the school quickly to book your ticket. The event is being held May 6 and 7 in the St. Peter's gym with admission going to support the Grade 6 year end/farewell trip as well as the Free the Children initiative to help build 200 schools in underdeveloped countries.

The diamonds were drying up nicely until rain and snow returned Easter weekend and Easter break week, and beyond. With big sighs, players and coaches continue to work out indoors yearning for the feel of shale under their feet. Coming up next for the Unity Minor Ball program is softball fever camp held in Unity May 10, with instructors coming from Softball Sask to put players through drills and skills preparation for the upcoming season. And if you love a ball game, come to the ball diamonds May 11 for a day full of ball games from both baseball and softball and in every division from the smallest to the midget teams.

The Unity Miner's annual slo-pitch tournament is slated for Saturday, May 24. Please contact Scott Gilbert at 306-228-2366 to register your team.

Just in time for Mother's Day shopping you can check out the second year of the Unity Farmers' market starting Thursday May 8. Shoppers are excited to see this program back for another year.

The museum brunches are now over. However, the museum group is always in need of your help with various tasks and your support throughout the summer season.

With spring well on its way, the Town of Unity would like to remind everyone to keep our parks clean. Please clean up after your pets and refrain from throwing trash on the ground as there are plenty of garbage cans around our parks.

Coffee row simply does not have another topic to review until this weather smartens up. The lament of continued snow, cold and rain has everyone wondering what has happened to our weather. Rowers are anxious to see some live ball and return outdoors to enjoy our parks and outside activities. So you see we keep busy in Unity with activities and wisdom from our friends on coffee row. Until next week.
