Dancers celebrate medal winning season

The Borden Dance Club held their recitals the evening of May 7 and afternoon of May 8th in the Borden Community Centre. There were 32 dances on the program and some were different at each recital.

The Borden Dance Club held their recitals the evening of May 7 and afternoon of May 8th in the Borden Community Centre.

There were 32 dances on the program and some were different at each recital. The hall was decorated in a spring theme with butterflies, balloons, archway and picket fence.

Many of the dancers had danced in competitions at Biggar and Aberdeen Dance in Saskatoon over the last few weeks and those receiving gold, silver or bronze marks were mentioned in the program.

Jazz solos were performed by: Jasmine Bezugly (platinum, gold), Brooklyn Gader (two silver), Kristie Hembery (gold, silver) and Savannah Sutherland (two gold).

Tap solos were by Jasmine (two gold), Sara Prescesky (two silver), Kristie (two silver), and Savannah (bronze, gold) .

In pointe ballet solo, Robynn Pidwerbesky had two silver.

Students performing medal winning duets were: Nikita Pascoe and Kirsten Szwydky, silver and gold in hip hop; Wyatt and Mackenzie Piprell, gold in hip hop; Jasmine and Savannah, a silver and gold in ballet; Courtney Wainwright and Dani Skillingstad, bronze and silver in jazz; Brooke Brazeau and Rachel Sutherland,silver and gold in tap; Kristie and George Hembery, gold and gold with distinction in hip hop; and Kristie and Jahnessa Basaraba, bronze and silver in jazz.

Groups earning medals were: Jazz 1/2 earned silver and gold and were most promising small jazz group 11 and under -Savannah, Brooke Brazeau, Rachel, Natalie Anderson, Danika Pidwerbesky and Kirsten Szwydky; Jazz 3 earned silver - Sara Preszesky, Nikita Pascoe, Brooklyn Gader and Kylie Madsen; Jazz 4 earned gold - Emma Pidwerbesky, Emma Prescesky, Jasmine, Ice Maxwell, Kristie, Sheridan Popenia and Jahnessa ; Jazz 5 earned gold - Dani, Courtney, Nicole Tracksell, Kcarli Maxwell, Robynn and Allison Meister; Ballet 1 earned gold -Savannah, Tearia Tracksell and Brooke Faith ; Ballet 2/3 earned silver and gold - Sara P., Rachel, Danika and Natalie; Ballet 4/5 earned silver and gold - Robynn, Emma, Jasmine, Emma, Sheridan and Jahnessa ; Tap 1/2 earned gold and best tap group demonstrating the spirit and love of dance - Savannah, Brooke Faith, Katelyn Worona and Tearia; Tap 3 earned gold and most promising tap group under 11 - Sara, Brooklyn, Rachel, Danika, Brooke B. and Natalie; and Tap 4/5 earned two gold - Emma and Robynn P., Jasmine, Kristie and Emma.

The Tiny Tots of Katelyn Worona, Abigail and Maelynn Prosser, Julia Siebert and Sydney Schmidt were crowd pleasers dancing to Pixie Dust.

Dancing lyrical were the older girls who had received two silver. Pointe ballet was gracefully performed by Emma and Robynn P., Jasmine and Emma Prescesky.

The most entertaining, comical and in costume was musical theatre performed by the Pidwerbesky family (Danika, Emma, Jesse and Robynn) doing Don't Ever Mess with a Pig. They earned silver, gold with distinction and Dance Off finalist.

The Adams Family, featured Jesse P. and seven of the older girls.

Others earning medals were: a trio of Emma, Allison and Emma, silver and gold; Natalie and Danika, silver and gold; solos by Jahnessa, bronze and silver, and Sheridan, two gold and most promising musical theatre solo.

Hip hop dancers earning medals were: gold - Savannah, Brooke F., Tearia, Nicole Nemanishen and Taran Hanley; Hip Hop 2, gold and most promising -Natalie, Danika, Rachel, Hayley Maxwell, Kirsten and Brooke Brazeau; Hip Hop 3, gold - Sara, Brooklyn Gader, Wyatt, Mackenzie and Nikita; Hip hop 4, gold - Emma, Jasmine, Kristie, Jahnessa, Sheridan, Emma, Ice and Darci Tkaczyk; Hip hop 5 boogie, gold and most promising hip hop group - Robynn, Jesse P., Nicole, Dani, Courtney, Kcarli, Allison, George, Colby Johnson and Jesse Wensley.

Performing a solo was instructor Sara Rospad and Amy Rissling performed with guest dancers from Saskatoon both days.

Debbie Hembery, president, thanked the many who had worked so hard to make the recitals and the dancers' year a success.

Peter Thiessen of Borden won a $107 50/50 prize Saturday and Reed and Kylie Madsen of Langham won $108 Sunday.
