Maymont School will be one of three schools involved in an exciting new initiative to offer enrichment in the dance program, one of the four strands in the arts program. Through the initiative of Sherron Burns, Maymont, McKitrick and Unity schools will each be receiving the benefits from a two-day workshop where students, teachers and professional dancers will develop a half-day tutorial in a variety of dance techniques.

Live Arts Saskatchewan will ensure a student technical crew will film a session in which dancers demonstrate what they have learned, via video link, to other schools in the division.

Maymont is anticipating working with a classically trained dancer who has now added hoop - as in using a Hula Hoop gracefully - to her repertoire. We are looking forward to the three days of dance specialty in April. The Grades 6 to 12 students will take advantage of this collaboration between the school and larger community. Mrs. Heather Cardin will be organizing this venture at Maymont Central School.

Kane Manson and Ype Elgersma, both Grade 5 students, play with the North Battleford Atom Blue Warriors. They played in a tournament in Hafford on the weekend and lost the A final.

Brodie Gray's atom team played in a tournament in Prince Albert on the weekend. They also lost the A final, to the Sharks.

Hailey Harris, Grade 5, participated in a tournament in Hepburn on the weekend. She was very excited as she scored her first goal of the season. Great job, Hailey!

MCS curling teams will be playing in the senior playoffs in Spiritwood. They will be playing Feb. 4 and 5. School staff know they will try their best and make the school proud.

Liz Clayton was on the Maymont school board for many years. Thoughts are with her and her family on the passing of her husband, Richard.
