HUMBOLDT — A friendly competition between Curves locations raised 627.25 pounds of food for the Humboldt Food Bank.
Patrons collected the food over the month of March. People were also able to join the gym using food as payment. The Humboldt location handily defeated the Martenville and Gimli, Man. locations.Â
"It's just more incentive when there's a contest, " said Danielle Saretsky with Curves Humboldt. "It seems people give a little bit more."
Saretsky said she likes putting on the annual food drive, seeing it as a way to give back.
Kevin Reiter, the food bank's chair, said it's donations like these that keep them going.
"The people in Humboldt are so generous. Because of them, we have enough food to serve 90 to 110 families a month."
