Crown Hill 4-H Beef Club entered two teams in the 4-H team grooming competition at the fall fair held at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon Nov 10.

They competed against other 4-H teams from across the province. Each team consisted of three members. They had 15 minutes to groom their animal while being judged on skill, knowledge of what they were doing, teamwork and the finished animal.

Anticipation grew when the time was up and the judge, Sara Archdekin, walked around inspecting the finished animals and asking the teams questions. Then she went over, picked up the mike and announced her winners.

The two Crown Hill teams placed first in their respective classes, with the junior team, ages nine to 12, consisting of Rachel Sutherland of Borden, Cole Reid and Justin Yasieniuk of Hafford, while the intermediate team, ages 13-15, was a Crown Hill/Hanley Beef Club combo with Kolten Yasieniuk of Hafford and Leah Libke and Calina Evans of Hanley.

Everybody was very excited with the win as each team won $50 for their club and each team member received a jacket sponsored by Early's. Both teams groomed shorthorn heifers supplied by Clythmane Shorthorns, owned by Glen and Sherri Sutherland of Borden.
