The Village of Paynton will be holdinga general election Oct. 24.Nominations are in and it will be interesting to see who gets elected this term.
Paynton and District Fire Department has received new equipment. The group is now kitted out with new gloves, helmets, boots, water packs and respirators. It is fire season again so make sure if you are farming to have a fire plan and water and or fire extinguisher on hand to deal with something small before it turns into an out of control blaze.
If you are not farming, but want to have a fire for whatever reason, call for a permit so the fire department will not be calledif a passerby seesthe smoke. The bill can be quite steep for those who start a fire without a permit.
Paynton Farmers' Market is wrapping upfor the season, with the last market being Tuesday, Sept 25 from 4 - 6 p.m. atPaynton Arena. A fundraiser and craft sale will be held Nov. 24 to raise money for the Paynton recreation facility's roof. The roof has been leaking and repaired more thanonce. The repairs will not suffice, so the only good option left is to build a truss system roof over top theold one to protect the building from dissolving completely.
For the fundraiser, the local communitygroups arehosting a talent day/jamboree. Paynton is inviting anyone with a talent from playing music to magic tricks to come out and help raise the roof.
