Cookout, potluck and trade show

Maymont News

Family and friends joined Tom Caldwell at his annual turkey cookout. Thanks, Tom. We had a wonderful time. It was great food and, of course, entertainment. We love your cookouts.

Maymont Seniors’ Centre is having a potluck supper with entertainment. This month the potluck will be a cold supper. The event will happen July 29 at 6 p.m. Everyone welcome.

Our trade show will be held Sept. 19. I know it’s early but anyone wanting to display their wares, please contact Judy Gallie at 306-389-4803 for more information.

Our deepest sympathy to Shelley and her family on the passing of her dad, Wes Schmidt. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Also our prayers to the Shelley and family who live in La Ronge, along with all the others who had to evacuate their homes.

This is what my girlfriend, who has a daughter who is an RCMP officer in La Ronge, wrote to her daughter, and wanted to share: “Oh Amanda, the emotions and thoughts dad and I have had since the day you got called back. You have no idea of how much you’re loved and missed. We are so proud of you and what you’re doing to help others ... We can’t thank all the RCMP, firefighters, all medical staff, conservation officers and anyone who I missed enough for all that you’re doing, having to put your lives on the line to save everyone else! Can’t wait till you’re all home safely.â€

I think a lot of us felt this way about all those who put their lives on the line up there to help those in need. Our thoughts and prayers are still with those while the battles continue.

Don’t forget the election for a new councillor – advance polls Aug. 5 and election day Aug. 12.
