Contest entry leads to adventure

I was pleasantly surprised to receive a letter after Christmas telling me my entry for the CBC Favourite Book Contest had been selected as one of the winners. I was told there were over 600 entries, so it was difficult to select winners.

I was pleasantly surprised to receive a letter after Christmas telling me my entry for the CBC Favourite Book Contest had been selected as one of the winners.

I was told there were over 600 entries, so it was difficult to select winners.

Enclosed was my prize of two free passes to swim at Moose Jaw Temple Gardens Spa. The entry was also read on the Afternoon Edition of CBC Radio One.

On New Year's Day Stewart Cunningham and I met with Rob, Diane, Sarah and Megan Jones in Regina and attended the levee hosted by Lt.-Gov. Gordon Barnhart and Mrs. Barnhart at Government House. After meeting Mr. and Mrs. Barnhart, we toured the beautifully decorated rooms in the old house and the interpretive centre. Tea, coffee, punch and dainties were served in the ballroom.

Stewart and I went on to the Science Centre to see the display, Titanic, which was interesting. Sheila Beaubien, who works there, was our guide.

Then it was on to Moose Jaw Temple Gardens for the free swim. It was a great day to start the new year.
